HPC Currently does not provide labor services.  We do, however, network with several organizations that can provide these services, separately or collectively with HPC.

STEAM TURBINE CONTROL SERVICES

  • Single Point Failure Analysis:  HPC has performed services like these on GE & W nuclear steam turbines.  The purpose was to identify those ‘single’ components that could, if they were to fail, shut the unit down.  HPC has continued to offer recommended design changes for the short-term avoidance of such shut-downs.
  • Instrument Loop Diagrams:  HPC has developed instrument loop diagrams for the benefit of technicians and plant engineers.  When troubleshooting a problem, sometimes OEM print systems can very much get in the way of the troubleshooting sequence.  Instrument Loop Diagrams, when developed, make this troubleshooting “far more” cost effective.
  • Calibration, Functional Check, Outage Services:  HPC has provided outage support specific to the turbine control system.  For example, on a number of units HPC arrived on site about one-week before the hydraulic flush was to be completed.  We conducted a functional check of the turbine control system, stroked valves, set valve curves, and verified trip functions in preparation for the subsequent start up.
  • Troubleshooting turbine controls problems: Often due to an inadvertent trip, oscillation of control devices, failure to start, or questionable accuracy.
  • Procedures:  HPC has developed site-specific procedures so that the plant engineer/technician can effectively conduct functional checks in the time allotted.  Troubleshooting Procedures have been developed as well.

STEAM TURBINE OPERATIONAL SERVICES

  • Engineering Support in Troubleshooting Operational Problems
  • Operational Audits
    • Evaluation of start-up procedures and recommendations of improvements that may result in improved start times, less loss of life in operating components, more reliable operations, improved safety
    • Walk down of auxiliary systems to evaluate procedures that may have an impact upon availability, reliability, and/or safety considerations
    • Steam Path Performance analysis
  • Development of Operational Procedures:
    • Pre-Start Up
    • Start Up
    • Load Changes
    • Shut-Down
    • Shut-Down in Preparation for Outage
  • Engineering Support in Start-Ups following Outages where there are concerns over the restart.  I.e., need to troubleshoot problems more effectively, vibration issues, and or control system issues.
