In today’s environment it is important to be properly prepared for turbine outages. Even if you are not expected to be the “technical advisor”, it is still important for you to appreciate all the activities that are important to the outage plan and its implementation. This course is intended to improve the effectiveness of your Frame 7F hot gas path inspection activities.
Outage Plan, Accessibility, Turbine Shell Disassembly, Nozzle Disassembly, Inspection of Components, and Reassembly.
This course has been designed for plant personnel who are involved in safely and effectively maintaining combustion turbines. The course assumes the participant has an understanding of the function and construction of those combustion turbine components to be inspected as well as those activities performed during a combustion inspection. If not, we suggest participating in our Combustion Turbine Fundamentals (vCT201) class and our “Principles of a Frame 7F Combustion Inspection” class (CT561) prior to participation in this session.
Personnel should also recognize that a major inspection will include a combustion and a hot gas path inspection. If your site is planning a major inspection then these virtual courses (CI and HGP) should be taken in advance of the other major inspection course.
- List the gas turbine operational and safety issues that typically cause the scheduling of a hot gas path inspection.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose and conceptual differences of a combustion, hot-gas-path, and major inspections on a Frame 7F gas turbine.
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge to conduct a hot gas path inspection.
- List the considerations that are to be included when developing an outage plan or schedule.
- Describe the major considerations when making repair/replace/reuse decisions.
- Describe the procedures for the safe and effective disassembly/reassembly of the gas turbine components associated with a hot gas path inspection.
- Describe the common procedures for cleaning and inspecting gas turbine components associated with a hot gas path inspection.
- Describe the common repair methods for gas turbine components.

Virtual instructor led training (VILT) schedule on vC562 is for three ½-day classes and is often scheduled to immediately follow vCT561, a Frame 7F Combustion Inspection. Enrollment should be 10-days in advance of the scheduled dates to allow HPC to forward copies of the text prior to course beginning.
HPC Technical Services reserves the right to cancel any course/seminar within 10-working days of the scheduled date. Fees are 100% refunded or credited to another Seminar (clients' choice) if HPC should cancel any Seminar.
